Can I Borrow Some Ambition? Or a Box of Ammunition?

21 03 2007

can i borrow some ambition
or a box of ammunition
man i need a new direction
like a positive regression
i could use a new excuse
need an ace, but drew a deuce
i will do the world a favor
and i’ll never reproduce

Ah, good ol’ Guttermouth… funny how you know what’s on my mind.

Anyway, there’s only so much more procrastination I can do with this philosophy paper before it becomes impossible to finish on time. I have to leave for class in about 3 hours. I have most of my research done, and for the most part, I have a rough idea of the outline. I’ve even started writing a bit. After I got home from class last night, my evening consisted of watching the rest of The Real World: Austin. It was really good! If you’ve got lots of time on your hands and haven’t already seen it, go to www.mtv.ca. You can watch the whole season there. There’s a bunch of other shows too. But all that to say, I watched that instead of writing my paper on (ugh) existentialism. I found a few other things to waste time and obviously found my way here. But…. enough of that. I should really get to work.

The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows

19 03 2007

After a random midnight trip to the grocery store, my roommate decides to start making a “smoothie”. (note: the quotation marks simply indicate my skepticism in his smoothie making abilities) Anyway, in a blender he adds a bunch of ice, some milk, a banana, pineapples, and vanilla extract. It looks to have some potential. He offers me a drink and it tastes bland. Not gross, just kinda boring. So back into the kitchen he goes. The fridge door opens, blender starts up again, and he’s back within a minute. Not so trusting of his cooking, I reluctantly try this “smoothie” again. It’s even more tasteless this time. Upon asking what the new ingredient was, and much to my dismay, he replies: “I added an egg!”

OMG ew?! What are you trying to make me drink?? Raw egg freaks me out.

Needless to say, I won’t be trying out any random “smoothie” concoctions anytime soon.

The Beauty in Ugly

18 03 2007

I’ve been listening to Jason Mraz’s new single “The Beauty in Ugly” a heck of alot. It’s a cute song. It’s for the show Ugly Betty. And it makes me want more new Jason Mraz. Bad. Ugh..

Apparently he’s been recording new songs and is releasing a new album this fall. He’s performed a few new songs at some cafés… like Twiggs!! Which is cool.. cause Twiggs is cool. Isn’t that some awesome reasoning? haha …

Anyway, all this to say I can’t wait for his new album. And I want green beer… What? It’s St-Patty’s day.

=)

Somewhere Ahead is the Back of the Line

7 03 2007

When I started this blog, I had in mind that I would update it fairly often. Problem is, I can’t think of anything relevant to say most of the time. I guess I’m not much of a writer, but I already knew that. Every once in a while I think up something quasi meaningful (barely), but today I’ve got nothing. So, instead I’ll share this thing I filled out… it turned out kinda funny/ironic if you know some of the songs.

If your life was a movie, what would the soundtrack be?

So, here’s how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that’s playing
5. Don’t lie and try to pretend you’re cool..

This is the soundtrack to my life ….

Plane

3 03 2007

Drain the veins in my head
Clean out the reds in my eyes to get by security lines
Dear x-ray machine
Pretend you don’t know me so well
I wont tell if you lied
Cry, cause the droughts been brought up
Drinkin’ cause you’re lookin so good in your starbucks cup
I complain for the company that I keep
The windows for sleeping rearrange
And I’m nobody
Well who’s laughin now

I’m leaving your town again
And I’m over the ground that you’ve been spinning
And I’m up in the air so baby hell yeah
Well, honey I can see your house from here
If the plane goes down, damn
I’ll remember where the love was found
If the plane goes down, damn

Damn, I should be so lucky
Even only 24 hours under your touch
You know I need you so much
I cannot wait to call you
And tell you that I landed somewhere
And hand you a square of the airport
And walk you through the maze of the map
That im gazing at
Gracefully unnamed and feeling guilty for the luck
And the look that you gave me
You make me somebody
Oh, nobody knows me
Not even me can see it, yet I bet I’m

I’m leaving your town again
And I’m over the ground that you’ve been spinning
And I’m up in the air, so baby hell yeah
Oh honey I can see your house from here
If the plane goes down, damn
I’ll remember where the love was found
If the plane goes down, damn

You keep me high minded
You get me high

Flax seeds, well they tear me open
And supposedly you can crawl right through me
Taste these teeth please
And undress me from the sweaters better hurry
Cause I’m keeping upward bound now
Oh maybe I’ll build my house on your cloud
Here I’m tumbling for you
Stumbling through the work that I have to do
Don’t mean to harm you

By leaving your town again
But I’m over the quilt that you’ve been spinning
And I’m up in the air, said baby hell yeah
Oh honey I can see your house from here
If the plane goes down, damn
I’ll remember where the love was found
If the plane goes down, damn
I’ll remember where the love was found
If the plane goes down, damn
Well I’ll remember where the love was found
If the plane goes down, damn

Damn, damn, damn you..

You keep me high,
You keep me high minded

You get me high minded
You get me high…

- Jason Mraz
