I have my kitty back! Max is sleeping next to me on the couch:) and I felt the need to share that fact with the blogging world (not that any particular attention is paid to my blog, I’m sure…) But there it is folks. I love my cat!!

For the sake of secrets, let’s say I’m safe.
Let’s say I got a hiding place.

I’ve made mistakes.
They keep me company.

I’ve changed, it’s comforting.
And there’s something soothing and surreal as hell.

You finally forget to be overwhelmed.
After a random midnight trip to the grocery store, my roommate decides to start making a “smoothie”. (note: the quotation marks simply indicate my skepticism in his smoothie making abilities) Anyway, in a blender he adds a bunch of ice, some milk, a banana, pineapples, and vanilla extract. It looks to have some potential. He offers me a drink and it tastes bland. Not gross, just kinda boring. So back into the kitchen he goes. The fridge door opens, blender starts up again, and he’s back within a minute. Not so trusting of his cooking, I reluctantly try this “smoothie” again. It’s even more tasteless this time. Upon asking what the new ingredient was, and much to my dismay, he replies: “I added an egg!”
OMG ew?! What are you trying to make me drink?? Raw egg freaks me out.
Needless to say, I won’t be trying out any random “smoothie” concoctions anytime soon.
It looks like they’re phasing out incandescent light bulbs in Australia, which is sweet! It’s set to be completed by 2010. And, by 2012 Australia will hopefully reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by 4 million tonnes.
The incandescent light bulb was invented over 125 years ago, and wastes 95% of the energy it produces. In other words, 95% comes off as heat, and the other 5% as light. A compact fluorescent light bulb uses 75% less energy! A 15 watt compact fluorescent bulb makes just as much light as a 60 watt incandescent bulb.
Compact fluorescent bulbs are way more efficient. If every household in Canada were to switch three incandescent bulbs to compact fluorescent ones, we’d save enough energy to supply all of Vancouver.
Well… that just about does it for my environmentally fueled rant. Now go invest in some new light bulbs, dammit!
